Let's meet Port-a-Lab team!

"I am a mother of two children. I am an IT graduate and I started  professional career as an IT System Analyst in a multinational company. I lived in the US for a couple years where I attended a couple of courses on Human Resource Management & Training design at the UC Berkeley Extension School; exposure to Silicon Valley Professors was an inspirational life experience and I moved to the UK in 2011 and enrolled in a Montessori teaching course to apply formal educational and training techniques to groom my two children. Most of my mornings are spent volunteering at my children's school arranging events, science clubs and handling fundraising accounts. My evenings are dedicated to supporting my children's passion for sports and coding. During our time off from school, we love to travel as a family and so far I have visited 12+ countries with me children. I enjoy photography and exploring new places. I am passionate about life-long learning and teaching and Portalab has given me a platform to be inspired and to inspire young minds. I am a firm believer of ‘learning by doing’ and I encourage my kids to explore and experiment in their free time." - Eman Ali

"I am currently the director of Port-a-Lab, I also run some sessions as a tutor. Besides Port-a-lab, I work as a volunteer at Home Start charity and regularly volunteer at my children's school. Before having my second child, I worked as an Early Years Professional in a private nursery for 5 years and before that I had worked as a supply teacher for 2 years.I have a bachelor degree in design and technology teaching, a photograph degree and a post graduate diploma in early years." - Esma de la Motte

"I am a computer engineering graduate and have two years software developer experience. As a result of my passion for teaching, I volunteered as Mathematics/Science teacher and science club organiser in local communities, libraries and primary schools. Currently, I am studying bachelor's degree in Physics in the UK. Even though science is my favourite subject ever, I still enjoy coding. Java, Python, C++ are programming languages I have worked on so far. Recently, I have been focusing on Scratch and the programming methods to teach primary school children. I am interested in art, particularly oil paint. I attended some art courses to enhance my art skills. STEAM and coding clubs are opportunity for me to share what I have learnt  and have been still learning during my education and work life in a collective way." Birsen YILDIZ
